Community is the enginge of this movement. It is how we win.
Community is perhaps the most integral piece of the four because it is how we - those without immense wealth - stand a chance in the long run against those who do. If we don’t achieve the critical mass of support that we need to turn the necessary seats in Congress, the movement will not get past the starting line.
This movement is designed to reduce the impact of money and enhance the impact of individuals from the common class. We achieve this through community and discussions on what really matters.
Community is our way of combatting the division that is being sewn by corporations and the Elite Class. They are trying to get you to think that your neighbors and sometimes your family are the enemy. They do this by diverting your attention away from wealth inequality and stoking fear of your neighbor.
Do not be frightened and scared of your fellow common class members. Do not harbor hatred towards individuals whose goodwill has been purchased in exchange for their attention. We must stand together to win.
We must see the limitations of current media options. Algorithms designed by and with the Elite Class in mind show a distorted view of popular discourse. While primarily designed to capture your attention, ideas are subtly introduced that pull you in different and divisive directions.
There are two prominent purposes for the community arm: restore a sense of belonging through authentic experiences and to help spread the movement’s message.
It has been awe-inspiring to see millions of Americans take to the streets to protest the current state of our government. The community arm of this movement will focus on smaller, everyday impacts in your local community. Find something broken and fix it, help your neighbor with yardwork, volunteer your time. We will align with other large-scale events, but our primary focus is small.
These smaller events are designed for you to find and strengthen relationships within your own community. It is hard for people to reach across state lines and help those in need – we need local connections. The internet and social media are not substitutes for real, authentic experiences.
As we grow, we will be looking for community organizers to orchestrate weekly events right in your community. Think small, think local – we know so many of you have limited time while you are trying to make ends meet. Come every week, come when you can. The point is to get members of your community to see your work and efforts. When you have their attention through your actions, you can let them know what you represent.
There is room to think even bigger with this movement. The common class is not limited to the United States of America. There is an opportunity to change the quality of life around the world. If we effectively address wealth inequality in the US, the Elite Class will look to other nations to harbor their money. If similar movements across the world take place, we can prohibit the wealthy from using the working class as the source of their wealth in any nation. We achieve this by prohibiting business transnationally unless a fair agreement is reached. We all tax the wealth first and the work second. Think of the numbers across the globe - think of the possibilities.
This page is just the initial idea. As our movement grows, this space will become the central hub for community action. Here is the vision for what's to come:
Stay tuned.
